Lost (Practice Manipulation)

Time Taken: I actually don't quite know-- I worked on this over a long period of time|Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet|Photoshop Elements 8.0

I'm trying to improve. The two things I desperately need to work on are detailing and painting the mane and tail (yes, the mane and tail look atrocious, forgive me -.-) -- neither of which I seem to have gotten the hang of. If anyone knows a few good tips for muscle detailing, I would be very glad to know them.
